Streams of the Subclass 482 Visa
1. Short-Term Stream
- Allows you to work in Australia for up to 2 years (or 4 years if an international trade obligation applies).
- Your occupation must be on the Short-Term Skilled Occupation List (STSOL).
- You cannot apply for permanent residency through this stream.
2. Medium-Term Stream
- Allows you to work in Australia for up to 4 years.
- Your occupation must be on the Medium and Long-Term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL).
- You can apply for permanent residency after 3 years.
3. Labour Agreement Stream
- For workers sponsored under a labour agreement between an employer and the Australian government.
- Conditions vary based on the specific agreement.
Eligibility Criteria
- You must be nominated by an approved employer.
- Your occupation must be on the relevant skilled occupation list.
- You must have at least 2 years of relevant work experience.
- You must meet English language proficiency requirements.
- You must have adequate health insurance.
- You must meet health and character requirements.
Application Process
- Your employer lodges a nomination application.
- You submit your visa application after nomination approval.
- You provide evidence of skills assessment (if required).
- You meet health and character requirements.
- You must start working within 90 days of visa grant.
