The Employer Nomination Scheme (Subclass 186) Visa
Visa 186 is a permanent residency visa for skilled workers nominated by an Australian employer. It allows holders to live, work, and study in Australia indefinitely.
There are three streams:
1. Direct Entry Stream
- For applicants with at least three years of relevant work experience.
- Requires an occupation listed on the Medium and Long-Term Strategic Skills List (MLTSSL).
- Applicants must have a positive skills assessment for their nominated occupation.
- Age limit: Under 45 years, unless exempt.
2. Temporary Residence Transition Stream
- For workers who have been employed by their sponsoring employer on a 457 or 482 visa for at least two or three years.
- No skills assessment required.
- Age limit: Under 45 years, unless exempt.
3. Labour Agreement Stream
- For workers nominated under a Labour Agreement between the employer and the Australian government.
- Suitable for industries with specific skill shortages.
- Age and skill requirements vary based on the agreement.
General Eligibility
- Must be nominated by an Australian employer.
- Must meet health, character, and English proficiency requirements.
- Employer must be an approved sponsor and offer a full-time, permanent position.
